3 years ago the Loek van den Berg Quintet for the first time appeared on stage, and since then they have been playing all over the Netherlands and have done multiple international tours to for example India, Spain and Malta. Loek won in 2019 the Erasmusjazz prize, in 2022 he got awarded for the best composition in the Dutch Jazz Competition with the title track of his album “Wayfarer”. In het same year his quintet won the 2nd prize in the Getxo International Jazz Competition.

Through the years the Quintet has created an own style characterized by the melodical and melancholical compositions of Loek. Everyone in the band is equal though. All five bandmembers have their own voice, which shines through the songs as there is a lot of room for own interpretation, improvisation and interaction. The quintet is built on a strong bond of friendship, which you can clearly hear in the music.
