Aviv Noam Quartet

Won op 13 juni in het Bimhuis de Dutch Jazz  Competition 2020 (ook uitgesteld door Corona) 

De voorzitter van de vakjury, Marius Beets, motiveerde het namens de jury als volgt: Aviv Noam Quartet belichaamt een gezamenlijke creativiteit. De musici schrijven en spelen zij aan zij een energiek en sprankelend repertoire.  Op het podium staan zij ver boven hun eigen noten en wordt er samen echt muziek gemaakt. Een lekker eigenwijs bandje met persoonlijkheden, attitude, mooie noten en spannende vormen.

Aviv Noam is geboren in Tel Aviv en zijn grootste muzikale openbaring vond plaats op het moment dat hij besloot om twee maanden de tijd te nemen om alleen te luisteren naar alle muziek van Charles Mingus. 

Sindsdien is hij een levenslange muzikale ontdekkingsreis begonnen. Hij doet dat samen met een internationaal gezelschap aan musici.

Biography

Aviv Noam, born in 1995 in Tel-Aviv (Israel), is a Saxophone player (Alto, Baritone, Soprano) and a multi-instrumentalist (Bass-Clarinet, flute). Aviv resides in the city of Amsterdam and works as a freelance musician, composer, and music teacher while finishing his musical studies at “Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA)”.

Early musical life & studies:

Aviv started playing the saxophone at the age of eight, studying classical music at “Israeli Conservatory of Music'' in Tel-Aviv. In his early teens, Aviv played two major concerts with “The Israeli Camerata” Orchestra as a “Young Soloist”. He won two competitions with a scholarship prize by the “America Israel Culture Foundation”. 

Later on, Aviv began studying Jazz music as well, both in the Israeli Conservatory of Music  and in the Jazz department of “Ironi A High school for the arts”.

After high-school years, Aviv started his studies in “CJS” program (Exchange program between “The Center for Jazz Studies” in the Israeli conservatory in TLV and “The New School for Jazz and contemporary music” in NYC). 

Later on, Aviv moved to the city of Amsterdam in order to be a part of Europe’s jazz scene and to study in “Conservatorium van Amsterdam” (CvA).

Professional Career

Aviv has collaborated with various musicians & bands, some of which are: “Peter Beets & Henk Meutgeert Orchestra”, “All Ellington” band, “Konrad Koselleck Big Band”, “The Israel Jazz Orchestra”.

The main focus of his professional life is devoted to the musical projects in which he acts as a band-leader or composer/arranger, of which the main projects are: “Aviv Noam Quartet” and "Valvetronic Brassband".
